What to do now if you re-open or stay in lockdown in May

There’s been talk of reopening.  Here are 2 physicians in California with 20 years of experience (currently practicing in the ER seeing patients) discussing their testing data in their county and extrapolated data in the world.  Watch now below.

Update April 27, 2020:
A comment was made to me privately about the lack of validity of what was brought up in the video and that I shouldn’t be sharing things like this and should even take the poll above down.  It made me curious as to our other readers and their opinions.  Comment below with your thoughts.

Please scroll down below the video and see what I wrote about this when I posted it originally.

One of the points I was making about this is the perspective that the mainstream media is constantly bombarding us with news about one main perspective and most people read it and believe everything they read. It is important for us to also look at different perspectives, even if there may be invalidity in what was brought up.

In my opinion, there were good things brought up to consider when considering whether to re-open or not. Re-opening a state involves many factors being considered and is not an easy leadership decision.  Regardless of what happens, you have a role to play in the health of many people in your area and across the country.  Scroll down to read more.

Now, there may be flaws of extrapolating data when there isn’t random testing, but at least it brings up some things to think about different from what mainstream media is primarily reporting.

The latest #s globally as of today are 6.9% death rates from the World Health Organization website.

Let’s say you didn’t believe in re-opening.  What can you do about your practice?  You can help people with their current health issues (yes, even if you’re closed)..

There is a high chance that people who are abiding to stay-at-home orders currently have health issues that aren’t being dealt with properly:  the regular health issues that people have always had even before all this, plus increased incidences of other health issues.

For example, there has been a rise in incidences of depression, suicide, domestic violence and abuse.

Plus, if we are still concerned about COVID-19 and it continuing to be a big threat to people, a large percentage of people who have died have had co-morbidities, including in New York (click on bottom right corner “Click for Fatality Data” on NY State Health Department website).

How can you educate and help people with co-morbidities like hypertension, diabetes, COPD, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, etc?

You have an opportunity to help them.  You just need to have a way of helping them understand how telemedicine or telehealth can benefit them.  Or, put together your knowledge and expertise in such a way that can benefit them (ie, online courses, services, products, etc).

You can either bring money in from that, or do it as a give back to your community.

Even if you are doing it for free now (vs just waiting it out), it can still help you bring more patients in when you re-open.

Let’s say you believed in re-opening and that your area re-opened within the next month.  What can you do about your practice now?

The best thing to have done was to have continued to stay connected with your patient/client base this whole time and continue to market your practice.  Why?

If your patients have been educated well, there will likely be an increase in demand for your services when you re-open, especially if they haven’t seen you for this time (as long as they are not in fear of being out and about).

Why not also use this time as an opportunity to attract new patients in?  There are acupuncturists, chiropractors, naturopathic doctors, and functional medicine practitioners who are not doing much to market their practices right now.

People will be seeking solutions for when places re-open.  Why not be the practitioner or clinic people think about when things re-open?  You will be top of mind awareness for them if you are marketing now.

Hi, I”m from Ontario, Canada, Thank you for sharing this.
I really feel this was an over-reaction by the media AND the medical community for a specific purpose. Probably to mess things up for Trump. They were willing to tank the economy to get rid of Trump. I don’t care WHERE you sit in your opinion of Trump, that is a crime.

Hi Esther, it’s interesting because I was watching just last night a video that was shared with me by a friend of mine. You may find this interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wTiCxXgrJw
