Although I don’t use hair conditioner, I know many people who do.
Having been trained as a pharmacist and being particular about reading labels, I get frustrated seeing people look around at places like Whole Foods and think they are getting non-toxic hair products, when many of the products out there still contain chemicals or preservatives that I don’t recommend.
It can be a challenge to find a product that doesn’t contain a laundry list of chemicals that are best to avoid.
Thankfully, it’s simple to make your homemade natural hair conditioning treatment. It works great, is all-natural, and easy to make!
Here’s what you need:
- 8T coconut oil
- 4T jojoba oil
- 12-20 drops tea tree oil
- Resealable container (like a small mason jar)
1. In a bowl, stir the coconut oil until it becomes a smooth consistency.
2. Whisk in the jojoba oil and tea tree oil (you may use an electric mixer for this step, too) until thoroughly combined
3. Transfer the conditioner to your container.
Wet hair and slather in the conditioner, paying extra attention to the ends. Let sit for 3-5 minutes. Shampoo as normal.
Bonus tip! This can also be used as a hot oil treatment. Slather onto damp hair, then cover with a towel hot from the dryer OR put on a shower cap and heat with the blow dryer. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then shampoo as normal.
