Coconut Oil – Natural Makeup Remover?

Coconut oil is one of the best healthy fats to use for cooking, but did you know that it is also a versatile tool for your health and beauty regimen?

Coconut oil is one of the best healthy fats to use for cooking, but did you know that it is also a versatile tool for your health and beauty regimen?

If you’ve ever watched me in the 6 & 7 figure marketing tips I share in my videos, you’ll see that I usually don’t wear any makeup. I don’t like wearing makeup. (My husband still gives me a hard time for not wearing makeup on our wedding day).

But in the rare occasion when I wear makeup, I have a hard time finding a makeup remover I’m happy with, free of carcinogens, etc.

Until I discovered coconut oil as a great makeup remover recently. How do you use it? Just rub some coconut oil on your skin to remove your makeup (I prefer to use extra virgin coconut oil).  Then dab with cotton ball as you would normally use a makeup remover.

Read on for 4 other ways to put coconut oil to use to improve your skin, hair, and lips.

For Skin:

  • Use as an all-over moisturizer after your bath or shower by rubbing a  tablespoon sized piece at a time of your arms, legs, back, and torso as soon as you get out. Wait 15 minutes for the oil to absorb into your skin before getting dressed in your nice clothes.
  • Apply a small amount around your delicate eye area to moisturize , improve dark circles, and keep wrinkles from forming. You can also use sparingly on small dry patches (don’t apply all over your face, as it may clog pores).

For Hair: For a deep conditioning treatment, follow these directions:

  1. Start by putting on an old shirt and draping a towel over your shoulders to protect yourself from drips (oil can stain fabrics)
  2. Heat 3-5 tablespoons of coconut oil (depending on the length & thickness of your hair) on the stove or in the microwave until just melted.
  3. Making sure that it isn’t too hot first, use your fingers to massage the coconut oil through your hair all the way to the tips. Use a comb to work it through evenly.
  4. Pile your hair on top of your head and cover with a shower cap
  5. Wait 2 hours (or overnight) to let the oil soak deep into your hair
  6. Unwrap your hair and wash using a natural shampoo. Repeat 2-3 times until it doesn’t feel oily anymore.
  7. After your hair dries, it will be soft, shiny, and gleaming!

For lips:

  • Rub coconut oil on your lips. Unrefined coconut oil will soften and moisturize chapped lips. It’s completely edible, so there’s no need to worry about ingesting a little. In fact, eating coconut oil is great for your health.

Thanks so much for your unique video and audio series on “How to get booked for speaking”. I have already gained valuable insight on great business ideas.
Plus, your healthy coconut hints are a fun addition to your website. I do use coconut oil too and have found it to be great (and safe!) for even eye make-up removal. Better than the expensive store-bought stuff and all natural.
